I was chocked a few weeks ago in Marseille, France when they suddenly mentioned my name and Welcome to Hebron. It was an honour to win at CMCA in Marseille. I still look weird in this photo from the ceremony. Also, I was surprised a few months before that when I won an
award in Rome.
Before these two awards, Welcome to Hebron did very well in
Hungary, Bologna and Morocco
Feels great but weird.

Nothing changes in Hebron
The Abu Heykal family in Hebron recently came under attack from Israeli soldiers. Both men and women of the family were assaulted. Feryal and Majd are two very strong Palestinian women, always resisting the constant abuse from settlers and soldiers. In the film, they play a major part since Majd is the best friend of Leila and Feryal was the head mistress at the Cordoba school.
The situation in Hebron is not improving, and as always, the hypocrisy of the so-called peace process hits every visitor to Hebron in the face. Often literally.

Festivals and screenings
There are more and more festivals, broadcasters, universities and highschools that are asking me for copies of the film. Recently I have been travelling to Turkey (Istanbul) and northern Sweden (Umeå). In October and November screenings in USA (Boston Palestine Film Festival), France (Paris) and highschools in Sweden are coming up. Broadcasters in Sweden, Japan, Poland, Portugal and England have already screened it, with more countries to come. This review of the film is one that I really appreciate. If you want to stay updated with screenings, the best option is to sign up on Facebook. Posted by director Terje Carlsson on Tuesday, October 27, 2009Leila and life under military occupation
The documentary Welcome to Hebron took me more than three years to finish. Now, no one can say "We did not know....". Now, everything remains the same in Hebron. Now, it is time to start asking questions. Watch the film, spread the word and support it on Facebook. Why I did this film about Leila? I just felt like saving the world, or something. Terje.
